Top Issues
As a school board member, I will tackle an array of issues affecting the future of our students in Burbank.
1
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:
As a parent, I am acutely aware of the lack of diversity among the staff in many of Burbank's schools, and amongst its leadership. While it has improved, there is significant room for growth.
As your School Board member, I will work with Human Resources to identify diverse intern programs, education schools and hiring sites to recruit, and retain qualified, diverse, and dynamic teachers and staff.
Diversity, Equity and inclusion encompasses multiple stakeholders and issues. I am committed to fighting for our many diverse learners, including, but not limited to, our students of color, students with disabilities, neuro-divergent learners, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and our at promise students. I want to serve those who feels marginalized, unheard, and ultimately unseen.
I will work with District Staff, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant, and Teacher Leaders, to maintain consistent communication, goal-setting and assessment of our programming. Additionally, I will continue to look for resources to support expansion of this important work.
2
Mental Health
As a professional game artist, I will leverage my expertise in the field to identify high tech solutions that make mental health services more accessible and streamlined, while protecting student confidentiality.
3
School Funding
As someone who makes their living in the arts, I know the importance arts programming plays in student and career development. I am committed to maintaining and expanding Art programming in our schools.
Too often, the District operates in a silo, not working together with local businesses, City Council and community members. As a Board Member, I will build a coalition with all these stakeholder groups, centered around partnership and growth.

School Safety
School safety is at the forefront of every parent's mind. We have a strong relationship with Burbank Police, and the work they do to prepare district staff and their officers for school shootings. I believe our police officers are overburdened and should not be saddled with the task of disciplining students. Stronger mental health services and support should be put in place, and our School Resource Officers should only be used to provide positive programming and information. With a three-minute response time, we know our officers are seconds away.
Some of my proposed policy changes include:
- Requiring officers to lock up all weapons before entering school grounds unless a situation requires otherwise.
- Working with the Chief of Police and the juvenile division to receive quarterly reports that show the number of arrests, detainment, and interactions with students, broken down by race, gender and ethnicity.
- A more authentic application of restorative justice within the district, including expanding our Teen Court program.
